Accelerate Caribbean is a competition and a program aimed at making the region’s most promising business enablers even greater, through a tailored package of world-class training and mentorship.
Business enablers refer to existing or new organizations – such as incubators and innovation hubs that provide entrepreneurs and start-ups with support and motivation. Such support may include training and mentoring; seed capital; professional advisory services; technology and workspace; or events and networking opportunities. By participating in the program, enablers can expect to boost their skills and broaden market linkages and networks, so that they are able to provide enhanced services to the entrepreneurs they serve.
Accelerate Caribbean is part of the Entrepreneurship Program for Innovation in the Caribbean (EPIC), by infoDev / World Bank Group and supported by the Government of Canada.
Who can apply?
Existing organizations or new consortia of organizations in 14 CARICOM countries which provide entrepreneurs and start-ups with the aforementioned types of support.
What are the benefits for applicants?
The support package that each successful applicant will receive is tailor-made to match their individual needs. More broadly, selected organizations can expect to boost their skills, and expand market linkages and networks so that they are able to provide enhanced services to the entrepreneurs they serve. The team will match each selected organization with an internationally renowned entrepreneurship mentor who will provide bi-weekly, one-on-one coaching and advice. “In the end, we want the applicants to be able to provide world class support services to entrepreneurs in the region”, says Sophia Muradyan, project lead from infoDev / World Bank Group.
Accelerate Caribbean is implemented by IMC Worldwide Ltd (IMC) in partnership with KoltaiCo, University of the West Indies (UWI), and BCSI.
