International Good Practices for the Establishment of Sustainable IT Parks
Excerpt from infoDev's report "International Good Practices for the Establishment of Sustainable IT Parks."

The Vietnamese IT sector has shown significant growth from 2002 to 2005 when it contributed 3% of GDP (USD$1.5 billion).

Vietnam's IT sector is dominated by hardware, but in 2000, the Prime Minister signed a resolution committing to the development of a software industry. This is in line with the consistent support that the government of Vietnam has provided to the IT sector, and although many of their goals have yet to be reached, Vietnam's key ICT indicators are on par with countries like China, India and Malaysia.

National and local governments have facilitated the creation of 10 IT Clusters/Parks by providing infrastructural support and linkages to attract investment. In this excerpt, a number of Vietnamese IT Parks are analyzed.

The country case study concludes with an examination of the key policies and enablers necessary for IT park success.
