About APTIVATE
APTIVATE is a UK NGO and social enterprise with considerable experience in developing low-cost, low-bandwith solutions for ICT access and services for developing countries, is a partner with two private sector firms, Plextex and Sagentia, in Enclusion (www.enclusion.com).
Enclusion is developing GSM telecommunications equipment and services to extend networks into rural areas at significantly lower capital and operational costs for operators. Enthusiastically received at the "Connect Africa" Summit in Rwanda last week, the system will work with existing handsets, consumes a fraction of the power of current base stations and provides the first, affordable step to scaling up to more powerful communications infrastructure as local markets grow and develop.
