“New Technologies New Thinking: ICT Regulation in a Changing World” gathered regulators and policymakers from ICT regulatory agencies around the world to discuss the challenges of creating a regulatory framework for new technologies.
Topics addressed included legal and institutional issues, competition and price regulation, spectrum management, and the regulatory challenges of the new technologies themselves. This executive-level training event drew participants from 70-80 developing countries for information sharing, strategizing, and problem-solving. Four modules from the joint infoDev-International Telecommunication Union ICT Regulation Toolkit were presented as tools to help regulators and policymakers optimize the ICT regulatory environment in their own countries.
The event built upon the success of the first ITU Executive Level Training for regulators organized jointly with infoDev in November 2005, prior to the ITU Global Symposium for Regulators.
