infoDev’s Incubator Initiative provides a window into the challenges innovators and entrepreneurs are facing on the ground in developing countries. infoDev is leveraging this unique perspective in order to understand better the fundamental challenges facing ICT-enabled innovation and new business creation across the developing world such as access to growth financing, effective ICT utilization at the firm level, and designing and marketing services and products that address the specific information and communication needs of the poor. To this end, infoDev is supporting analytical work, developing toolkits and providing policy advice for developing countries, donors, and their partners.
This work encompasses several components, including:
- A series of regional and country studies on ICT-driven growth and competiveness
- A multi-country analysis of the adoption and impact of ICT at the firm level
- A detailed analysis of the financing challenges facing developing-country entrepreneurs and small businesses
- A syntheses of global experience in ICT-driven trade and export promotion and in establishing and sustaining IT Parks
